Lusaka, Zambia – September 23, 2025 – The 7th Annual Global Gathering of the National Information Platforms for Nutrition (NIPN) began in Lusaka with a strong emphasis on the initiative’s past successes and the critical need to secure its long-term future. Under the theme, “Reflecting on Progress to Sustain Nutrition Impact,” the gathering brought together delegates from NIPN-member countries, donors, and technical partners to discuss how to institutionalize the program’s gains and ensure continued progress against malnutrition.
A central point of discussion at the Lusaka gathering is the transition to sustainable, country-led models. As NIPN’s second phase of donor funding concludes, the focus is on a strategic shift from external support to national ownership. The event serves as a platform for countries to share best practices on how to secure national budget allocations, integrate NIPN activities into host institutions, and build local capacity to ensure the vital work of data management and policy analysis continues uninterrupted.
The 7th Global Gathering comprises representatives from nine NIPN-member countries, including Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Kenya, Laos, Niger, Uganda, and the host country, Zambia, along with key partners like the European Union, German Embassy, UNICEF, Micronutrient Forum, and GIZ.
