As part of the NIPN Sustainability Plan commitments, the Social Policy Research Institute (SPRI), under the leadership of DG SPRI, Lao Academy of Social and Economic Sciences (LASES) successfully organized a three-day government-financed training from 17–19 December 2025, chaired by the Dr. Keovivone Outthachack, Vice-President, LASES.
The training aimed to strengthen national capacity to generate and use evidence for nutrition policy and planning with focus on “research methodology, application of nutrition markers and its use in policy and programming, development of nutrition-sensitive concept notes for agriculture, social protection & education, evidence-based advocacy planning, and writing policy brief”.
Officials from different ministries and departments participated. These include SPRI divisions, the Policy Analysis Unit (PAU) of line ministries (MOH, MOES, MAF, NA), and other LASES research institutes, including Economic Development Policy Research Division, Social Development Policy Research Division, Macroeconomic Research Institute, Institute of Political Research, and Institute of Sociological Research.
Key outcomes include improved research and analytical capacity, draft policy briefs, nutrition-sensitive concept notes, and advocacy action planning, reinforcing government ownership and long-term sustainability of NIPN in Lao PDR.
