The second volume of the National Information Platforms for Nutrition (NIPN) Newsletter highlights key national and sub-national efforts to improve nutrition outcomes in Lao PDR.
A central feature of this edition is the 10th National Nutrition Forum and Annual National Nutrition Committee Meeting 2024, held on March 18, 2025. The event gathered over 350 participants, including government leaders, development partners, and experts, to reaffirm the country’s commitment to tackling malnutrition. Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Prof. Dr. Kikeo Khaykhamphithoune emphasized the importance of investing in nutrition for sustainable national development.
The newsletter also reports on the dissemination of NIPN results to provincial assemblies, where stakeholders identified actionable priorities to address stunting, wasting, and undernutrition. To build local capacity, NIPN organized a central training on research paper writing, focusing on evidence-based approaches and academic rigor.
Looking ahead, the Lao Government and partners are consulting on a sustainability plan for NIPN, exploring models to ensure long-term operation beyond 2025. At the sub-national level, NIPN continues to support provinces with data collection, budget planning, and monitoring frameworks to strengthen nutrition governance.
Together, these initiatives underscore Lao PDR’s commitment to evidence-driven policies and coordinated action for better nutrition.
