Mar 19, 2025

A two-day workshop took place at the meeting room of the Department of Planning and Investment of the Oudomxay Province on March 11th – 13th, 2025, to bolster the partnership between the NIPN and NIS projects. The event focused on utilizing the routine data from DHIS2 system for planning and implementing nutrition programs.

On the first two days, participants from the health and planning sectors collaborated to assess DHIS2 data, specifically reviewing data quality from January to December 2024 with an emphasis on key nutrition indicators. By the session’s close, they had completed the analysis and draft a provincial profile using the key nutrition indicators identified.

The third day involved sharing the analysis outcomes with representatives from Oudomxay Province’s 7 districts. This presentation helped district attendees gain a clearer picture of the nutrition status in their own district. The ensuing discussions proved fruitful, with district representatives addressing local obstacles and considering how the insights could shape future nutrition plans and strategies.

The workshop was jointly led by Mr. Vingkhone Buaphachanh, Deputy Director of the Development Research Institute at the Ministry of Planning and Investment, and Mr. Somlith Latsaket, Deputy Director General of the Department of Planning and Investment of Oudomxay Province. An international consultant, supported by national consultants and the central-level NIPN core team, guided the analysis process.

The primary goal of the workshop was to encourage the use of DHIS2 routine data and build sub-national capacity to harness this data effectively for advancing nutrition program implementation.
