To continue the collaboration between the NIPN and NIS projects, a workshop was organized in Salavan province on March 3rd-4th, 2025, where both projects have been implemented. The workshop was held over two days.
On the first day, participants from the health and planning sectors worked together to analyze data from DHIS2, focusing on the quality of data from January to December 2024, as well as key indicators related to nutrition. By the end of the day, participants successfully completed the analysis and developed a provincial profile for the identified key nutrition indicators.
On the second day, the findings from the previous day’s analysis were presented to participants from the eight districts of Salavan province. This session allowed district representatives to gain insight into the current nutrition situation in their respective areas. The discussions that followed were fruitful, with district representatives highlighting local challenges and exploring how the findings could be used in future planning for nutrition programs.
The workshop was co-chaired by Mr. Vingkhone Buaphachanh, Deputy Director of the Development Research Institute, Ministry of Planning and Investment, and Mr. Bounlom Inthousa, Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Investment of Salavan province. The event was facilitated by Mr. Kovalan Koumaran, Nutrition Specialist from UNICEF Lao PDR, along with international and national consultants and the core team from NIPN at the central level.
