A workshop was held in Savannakhet Province on March 3rd-4th, 2025, to further strengthen the collaboration between the NIPN and NIS projects, which are currently being implemented in the region. The two-day workshop aimed to enhance the use of routine data from DHIS2 system in nutrition program planning and action.
On the first day, participants from the health and planning sectors came together to analyze data from DHIS2, focusing on the quality of data from July to December 2024. They particularly examined key nutrition indicators. By the end of the session, the participants successfully completed the analysis and developed a provincial profile based on the identified key nutrition indicators.
The second day focused on presenting the analysis results to representatives from the 15 districts of Savannakhet Province. This session allowed district participants to better understand the current nutrition situation in their respective areas. The discussions that followed were productive, as district representatives highlighted local challenges and explored how the findings could inform future nutrition program planning.
The workshop was co-chaired by Mr. Vingkhone Buaphachanh, Deputy Director of the Development Research Institute at the Ministry of Planning and Investment, and Mr. Keopaserth Soulinpoumy, Deputy Director General of the Department of Planning and Investment of Savannakhet Province. The analysis was facilitated by international consultant with collaboration with national consultants, as well as the central-level core team from NIPN.
The main objective of the workshop was to promote the use of routine data from DHIS2 and enhance the capacity of sub-national levels to effectively leverage data for driving actions in the implementation of nutrition programs.
