The Oudomxay Provincial Health Office (PHO) organized the annual review meeting on the implementation of nutrition program by the Provincial Nutrition Committee for 2025, together with the direction and plan for 2026, from 7 to 8 April 2026 at the conference room of Nga District Health Office (DHO), Oudomxay Province. Participants included members of the Provincial Nutrition Committee, the World Food Programme, coordinators, the provincial secretariat from four districts: La, Nga, Beng, and Pakbeng. A total of 48 participants attended the meeting, including 16 women.
The meeting was chaired by Mr. Viengxay Khamphachanh, member of the District Party Committee and Head of the District Administration of Nga District, together with Dr. Phoutseng Theuambounmy, Deputy Head of the Oudomxay Provincial Health Office, Advisory Board of Provincial Nutrition Program.
The meeting aims to report on the progress and achievement of implementing the National Plan of Action of Nutrition (NPAN) in 2025 and to discuss the direction and plan for 2026; to review the revised decision on the appointment of the Provincial Nutrition Committee, No. 0146/PC, Oudomxay, dated 09 February 2026 (Revised version); to report, consult, and prepare budget for 2026; and to discuss the proposal to integrate the nutrition budget into the sectoral budget plans. The meeting also discussed problems, challenges, and solutions encountered by each sector over the past year; promoted a shared understanding for joint planning and reporting between the provincial and district secretariats of the nutrition committees at provincial and district levels; focused on improving management of implementation and achievement of expected NPAN results at the national level; and strengthened monitoring skills and support for the NNC-S and focal points from each sector through facilitation and peer-learning processes.
At the end of the meeting, the participants reached an agreement to continue implementing nutrition program in the future as follows:
- District level authorities shall develop activity plans and annual budgets for nutrition program for 2026 and submit them to the provincial secretariat by the first week of May 2026.
- District secretariats shall prepare quarterly nutrition program reports and implementation plans for 2026 and submit them to the provincial secretariat for consolidation and timely submission to the central-level nutrition body.
- Provincial and district secretariats shall closely coordinate and hold joint meetings every quarter.
- Meetings between provincial and district nutrition committee secretariats shall be organized twice a year.
- Multisectoral partners must take ownership in implementing nutrition program in line with their assigned roles and responsibilities.
The meeting lasted for two full days and officially closed at 4:30 p.m. on 08 April 2026 with successful results.
