The Data Analysis Unit of NIPN– Development Research Institute (DRI), under the Ministry of Planning and Investment, successfully organized a comprehensive four-day training program on data analysis. The training took place from the 30th of May to the 2nd of June, 2023, at the Thavisouk hotel, Vangvieng district, Vientiane province.
Over 20 government staff from various sectors and ministries, including the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and Sports, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and the Lao Statistics Bureau, actively participated in this training.
The main objective of this training program was to equip the attendees with the understanding of descriptive and inferential statistics, employing with software like STATA and Excel for data analysis. To ensure the learning efficiency, a series of well-designed exercises were provided to all participants. These exercises aimed to foster both individual and group practice, to improve the attendee’s statistical skills.
The training proceedings commenced by Dr. Sitthiroth Rasphone, the Director General of DRI, Dr. Sitthiroth emphasized the importance of participation and active engagement throughout the training. He urged the participants to wholeheartedly embrace the opportunity by actively posing questions, actively responding to exercises, and preparing themselves to eventually assume the role of trainers at the provincial level.
