The NIPN orientation meeting for sub-national levels held at the Amari Hotel in Vangvieng District, Vientiane Province from September 12th to 14th, 2023. The event brought together over 70 participants from six provinces, namely Phongsaly, Oudonxay, Khammuan, Savannakhet, Saravane, and Sekong. Additionally, the NIPN core team from the central level played a pivotal role in facilitating this meeting.
The primary objectives of the orientation meeting encompassed several critical aspects of the NIPN project’s mission:
First and foremost, the meeting aimed to foster a profound understanding of the NIPN project among provincial staff members. These individuals serve as the backbone of the project’s implementation activities at the sub-national level, and it was imperative to equip them with comprehensive knowledge and insights.
Furthermore, the event served as a platform to introduce the initiation of NIPN, shedding light on its core objectives and unveiling the work plan for NIPN Phase II. Additionally, discussions surrounding sustainability plans were instrumental in ensuring a unified vision among the project’s diverse team members. The meeting also aim to strengthening the coordination mechanism between central and provincial staff emerged as another pivotal goal. Effective collaboration between these two levels is crucial for the seamless execution of NIPN initiatives.
This orientation meeting marks a significant step forward in NIPN’s journey to combat malnutrition and improve the overall health and well-being of the people of Laos. With provincial staff members now well-prepared and aligned with the project’s mission, NIPN Phase II is poised for success in its vital mission.
